Privacy

Grayperson is an independent company information/search service. It is a personal project operated by Alex Smith. Alex Smith is the data controller for Grayperson. Privacy requests can be sent to privacy@grayperson.com.

Grayperson is not an official registry. The relevant official publisher or registry remains the authoritative source for the underlying public record.

Basic public-record search does not require an account. If you accept, Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page performance and overall site use. It may process page-load and performance timings, a page-load identifier and the page path. We exclude pages with query parameters, search-task pages, the contact form, technical routes and non-production hosts; the referring page is not sent. Cloudflare, Inc. provides this service. Cloudflare receives the source IP address with the request and says it discards it at the nearest data centre without storing it in its core databases or logs. It retains unsampled beacon data for 7 days, then keeps aggregated data; Web Analytics data can be viewed for up to 6 months. These terms are set by Cloudflare and may change. We use analytics only to understand performance and aggregate site use, not for advertising or behavioural profiles. Analytics is off unless you choose Accept. Our legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR); you may withdraw it at any time using the Change analytics consent button in the Cookies section of this Privacy page. Cloudflare's current service terms and data-processing addendum apply.

Ordinary server and security logs may contain your IP address, browser information, requested page and access time. They are used to operate, secure and troubleshoot Grayperson, separately from optional analytics, and are kept only as needed for those purposes.

Grayperson processes selected information obtained from official or publicly accessible public-record sources, which may include company identity, status, type, relevant dates, registered address/Eircode and classification fields depending on the country and record type. Different countries and record types may contain different categories of information. Public availability does not automatically remove privacy or other legal restrictions.

Grayperson does not publish every field merely because a source makes it technically available. It may exclude personal or privacy-sensitive fields that are unnecessary for the public-record discovery purpose.

Source and record-type provenance is identified for the records we present. Licences and reuse rules are source-specific. See Data sources & licensing for the current source details.

Grayperson aims to reproduce and structure source information accurately. If the underlying official record itself is incorrect, correction normally needs to be made with the relevant official registry or source. If the official source has changed but Grayperson has not yet reflected it, you may contact Grayperson for review and update.

Requests concerning personal information shown by Grayperson can be submitted for review. They are considered according to applicable law, source context, public-record purpose, current source data, and individual rights and safety considerations. Grayperson does not promise automatic deletion.

Where applicable data-protection law gives you rights in relation to personal information processed by Grayperson, you may contact us to exercise those rights. Depending on the circumstances, these rights may include access, correction, objection, restriction or erasure. These rights are not absolute and may be subject to applicable legal exceptions.

You may object to the processing of your inquiry on grounds relating to your particular situation where we rely on legitimate interests.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EEA country where you habitually live or work, or where the alleged infringement occurred. The European Data Protection Board lists the relevant authorities.

The Contact & Partnerships form collects your name, email address, optional company / organisation, inquiry type and message, including any other personal information you choose to include. All fields except company / organisation are required to send an inquiry. Please avoid sensitive personal information.

We use these details to review business partnerships, data / API requests, advertising / sponsorship proposals and other inquiries, respond to you and handle related correspondence. For business inquiries, the GDPR legal basis is our legitimate interest in evaluating business opportunities and communicating with people who contact us (Article 6(1)(f)). Sending an inquiry does not subscribe you to marketing.

Inquiries are delivered by email using Hostinger mail infrastructure to admin@grayperson.com. Hostinger processes the inquiry information to provide this email service. Its published terms state that user data may be processed outside its country of origin and describe terms for international transfers. See Hostinger's Data Processing Addendum.

The contact form does not create a customer database or store submissions in the website database. Inquiry emails and related correspondence are retained in our mailbox. The contact form does not apply an automatic email deletion schedule.

To remember your choice about optional analytics, Grayperson stores a first-party cookie for 180 days. It records only whether you accepted or rejected; it is not used to identify you for advertising or across other sites. You can change your choice or withdraw consent at any time using the Change analytics consent button in this Cookies section. Withdrawal stops further analytics requests immediately.

The Contact & Partnerships form also uses a necessary security cookie to protect against forged submissions.
